About Sam

I first began with an interest in the stories that are told.  Myths, religions, the stories we see unfold from Hollywood, and even the stories people tell themselves.  I went to Widener University and graduated with a BA in Psychology.  In school, my focus was on perception and consumer behavior.  Outside of the classroom, I have studied the human narrative through the likes of Carl Jung, Guiles Deleuze, Buckminster Fuller, and those who inspired them.

After spending years in the mental health and substance use field, I've decided I can put my talents to better use, with modalities which are more somatic and anti-oppressive.

Wanting to utilize my creative thinking and artistic abilities, I completed a Certification Program for UX UI Design at Denver University.  Since then, I have been creating geometric art and mandalas in Figma to learn the program better.  You will notice the mandalas on my home page have descriptions and links.  They have been minted and are for sale.

In 2022, I took on work with the Yarrow Collective, as their Grant & Research Coordinator, then I did Program Evaluations. I've moved on from that role to pursue extensive training and practice in Brainspotting. I have also done the 200 hour Yoga Teacher certification through Sacred Space Yoga (though I must finish out my internship and pass the Sanskrit portion of the test!) and completed a workshop series specific to yoga and trauma release.

I, myself, have a wide array of experiences overcoming the adversities of life, utilizing modalities from talk therapy and medication, to studying under plant medicine folk in Mexico. I have completed more than 10 holotropic breathwork sessions (under guidance), participated in sweat lodge, and have a personal embodying practice which incorporates ecstatic dance, yoga, martial arts, isometric holds, and breath work. I have found for myself, that a bottom-up approach is more helpful in moving through things, and I bring what I have learned from my trainings, as well as my own experience.

Each and every one of us has a story, and how we embody our joys and pains is unique to the individual. There is no one-size-fits-all. I've learned discernment and how to ask the questions that will lead you back to your Self. Afterall, you have all the answers you need; it is just a matter of understanding the messages your mind and body are telling you.
